Mom Haul, Perfume Testing, and Giveaway

I went over to Nordstroms to checkout their Anniversary Sale starting today with my Mom. While she was busy pretending to "not know her shade" at the Estee Lauder counter I checked out the perfumes.

I like to go around and sniff out my favorite lemmings to see if I still like them. First I sniffed out Miss Dior Cherie EDP.
Notes of chic, green tangerine, violette, and pink jasmine mingle with soft patchouli, musk, and delectably sweet strawberry leaves and caramelized popcorn for a delicious scent that's truly irresistible.
I really like this but sometimes I think it's too sweet. They now have an EDT which I'm just not sure about. I didn't really get a good sniff out of it. The sales lady was hovering too much haha.

I originally went there to scope out Guerlain's Aqua Allegoria in Pamplelune.
California Grapefruit, Italian Bergamot, Neroli, Petitgrain, Black Currant, Patchouli, Vanilla.
A sophisticated, sparkling, and mischievous fragrance.
I sniffed Pamplelune while I was in the Vietnam airport. I remember really liking it and thinking that I'd never seen this before. I thought it was a unique and cute bottle. Just look at the honeycomb design with the little ribbon tie! Plus the size is good for the money. I'm not the type to buy any cosmetics/perfumes "duty free" b/c I think it's kind of pointless. Tax is really not that much, and I'm usually not in the mood to buy makeup while traveling. After googling this product I now know that it's only available online or in some sephora, or at saks or neimans. I suppose it's not as popular as some crazy Juicy Couture stuff. Btw Mandarine-Basilic sounded intriguing too. Comment below if you are familiar with the smell!

Speaking of Juicy Couture! The sales lady let me sniff the unreleased NEW Juicy Couture perfume! I don't know the name of it but it has a nature themed smell. It's not sweet like viva. I don't actually remember what the original smells like or the other couture couture one so I can't compare, sorry! But Juicy fans may like to know there is something new coming out!

Other perfumes I recommend would be Yves Saint Laurent Parisienne.
Parisienne is the fragrance of ultra-femininity and sensuality, built with notes of blackberry, damask rose, and sandalwood. The grand floral with a woody structure is luminous even in its mystery.
My mom said it smells like Barbie... what? If she doesn't like something she calls it Barbie. ugh. This smells AWESOME to me. Plus I like how the bottle looks like a gemstone.

Gucci Flora EDT
Citrus Accord, Peony, Rose, Osmanthus Flower, Pink Pepper, Sandalwood.
Elegant. Natural. Spontaneous.
I see this becoming a life long favorite. It really reminds me of the long retired Gucci Rush. Gucci Rush was so popular it spawned off atleast 2 other scents. I need to dig out my old Rush and compare the two.

After I told the sales lady that I liked Gucci Rush she showed me the new Coach Poppy perfume that is "exclusive." Not sure how exclusive it really is (which stores) but it does smell really nice! It's a floral scent. I see it catching on.
Unusual collection of notes: cucumber flower, mandarin, freesia, jasmine, pink water lily, creme brulee, cedarwood, bleached sandalwood, and marshmallow.
It's totally lemming worthy! Once again another adorable bottle!

Now my what my Mom got!

She is an Estee Lauder loyalist so I knew she would love this new gift with purchase. I usually keep an eye on them and I've noticed the Nordstrom ones are much cuter and better in value. (vs dillards or macys) Now usually you have to spend $32 or $34 at Nordstrom versus only $29.50 at macys. This time along you only have to spend $29.50 to get the free gift! wee! You don't get to choose anything but I think it's all good stuff already.
Receive deluxe travel sizes of Re-Nutriv Intensive Hydrating Creme Cleanser (0.5 oz.), Re-Nutriv Intensive Lifting Creme (0.24 oz.), More Than Mascara in Black (0.1 oz.), Pure Color Gloss Stick in Frivolous Pink (0.16 oz.), a Pure Color Long Lasting Lipstick in Candy, and a trio compact of Signature Shimmer Powder in Rose Pearl, Signature Silky Powder Blush in Pink Kiss, and Bronze Goddess Soft Matte Bronzer. Offer ends August 1.

To qualify she bought this Double Wear Stay-in-Place Powder Makeup SPF 10. I'm not a huge fan of Estee Lauder foundation because it oxidizes but I do know that Double Wear really stays put if you're looking for makeup that doesn't budge.

Tonight I'm going to see The Sorcerer's Apprentice! I hope it will be good. I took advantage of the buy one get one free deal. Does anyone remember that disney short from Fantasia with mickey and the magic broom? It's loosely based on that but live-action which I think it kinda cool.

OH AND BTW! My other blog, Julu Jewelry, is having a huge giveaway that ends SATURDAY! You can win loads of Smashbox makeup and jewelry! :D Giveaway ends July 17, 2010 at 11PM CST so hurry! Enter daily!
